With the win Chavez Jr. improved to 39-0-1 (29 KOs) and looks poised for a possible mega fight with the fading Oscar De La Hoya.

Amir Khan's speedy punches saw off Marco Antonio Barrera in the fifth round of Saturday's lightweight bout, marking a turning point in his career six months after a major setback in the same arena.

Round 1 an accidental clash of heads cut Barrera badly at the scalp line and the cut immediately bled profusely. To his credit the younger Khan started the fight jabbing well and utilizing his superior hand speed. Khan used his height and reach to his advantage and looked very comfortable in letting his hands go.
