WATCH REPLAY: Chavez Jr. vs Cuello ONLINE STREAM

Boxing returned to Tijuana, Mexico Saturday night for the "Latin Fury: Tijuana Thunder", headlining the fight of the popular Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez (Senior) against another undefeated boxer in the name of Luciano Cuello.

Chavez Jr. effectively used his reach and a superior work rate to win a close and competitive ten round decision over a very game Luciano Cuello. Chavez boxed well in the face of an aggressive opponent, and when ten rounds were completed Jr. found himself the unanimous victor on all three official scorecards 98-92, 96-94, 96-95.

With the win Chavez Jr. improved to 39-0-1 (29 KOs) and looks poised for a possible mega fight with the fading Oscar De La Hoya.

WATCH REPLAY: Chambers vs Peter ONLINE STREAM

Really ‘Fast’ Eddie Chambers dominates the score card and posted his career best win last night in Los Angeles, California when he outpointed a heavy and lackluster Sam Peter over ten rounds. Chambers used a busy jab, often switching between an orthodox and southpaw stance, effectively thwarting Peter for the majority of the bout. Chambers used good hand-speed and ring generalship to capture a majority decision victory over the former world champion Peter.

The Knock-Out in Nokia Theather was quiet entertaining.

RICKY HATTON PLANS ALL-OUT ATTACK

Ricky Hatton plans to blow away Manny Pacquiao, the world's best pound-for-pound fighter, with an all-out attack when the pair meet in Las Vegas on May 2.

Hatton is ready to unleash an early onslaught which he believes Pacquiao will be unable to cope with. "Attack, attack and attack again. If you beat the pound-for-pound number one that is a statement," was the Mancunian's response when asked about his game plan.

"We are both very aggressive and both like to go forward but ultimately my size and power will be a factor.

"But it is not just a power thing, I'm working on my speed. I think they see me as a slow fighter and they will get a shock on the night just how fast I can be.

"I'll be keeping the same ferocity I have always had and when he feels my strength I don't think Manny will stand about.

"I think he will think he can out-box me like he did against Oscar De La Hoya (last year).

Hatton is delighted with the way his training has gone under Floyd Mayweather Sr and believes he is in much better shape than he was when he beat Paulie Malignaggi in November.

"We are only halfway through the training camp, there are six weeks to go and I think a lot of fighters would be happy with my speed, sharpness and timing come fight night," added the 30-year-old Hatton.

"I'm happy with the stage I am at but I just know my boxing ability, combination punches, jabbing and head movement is going to get so much better.

"I have a nice balance now and the fight can't come quick enough."

Vitali Klitschko defends title by TKO

WBC heavyweight king Vitali Klitschko got rid of one of his mandatory title challengers last night in Germany, as he battered a by all accounts disappointing Juan Carlos Gomez in an even more disappointing fight.

The former world cruiserweight champion Juan Carlos Gomez failed to fulfil his great dream of becoming heavyweight champion of the world in his first shot at the crown against WBC titlist Vitali Klitschko Saturday night in Stuttgart, Germany. "Dr. Ironfist" proved to be too much for "The Black Panther" who came out strong but lost by t.k.o. in round 9.

Gomez went down after some brutal shots in round 7 but beat the count to survive some hard blows in round 8 as well. After another knockdown and a point deduction to Vitali due to an unintentional headbutt the fight was stopped when the Cuban was defenseless in the ropes. Klitschko was clearly ahead on all three scorecards as well.

Gomez was a little disappointed but also pleased with his own performance: “I have to apologize to my daughter for not keeping my word to bring home the world championship belt. I was convinced that I had a chance to beat Vitali. I tried very hard but he has been the better man last night. He is a great champion. That's life: Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But 'The Black Panther' will definitely be back. It's still Showtime!"

Klitschko-Gomez bout Updates

Team Klitschko refuses the WBC judge and referee.

Five days before the great showdown between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and no. 1 contender Juan Carlos Gomez it was team Gomez who clearly won the “first round” at today’s press conference in Stuttgart. While Vitali kept repeating that he will give Gomez a lesson “which won’t last very long” his manager Bernd Bönte had to admit that team Klitschko actually refused the referee and one judge the WBC had planned to appoint for the fight. Apparently, the champion and his team are getting nervous with fight day approaching.

“It’s funny”, stated challenger Gomez. “If Vitali thinks that he will knock me out why does he even care about the judges at all? I don’t care who will be judging the fight. I will beat up ‘Dr. Sissi’ so bad that there will be no doubt that the ‘Black Panther’ will be world champion again this coming Saturday. It’s Showtime!"

“This fight won’t go the distance. We will stop Vitali and take the belt.

On the otherhand, the 37-year-old WBC Heavyweight king Vitali Klitschko told everyone what his mandatory challenger will get as a result of talking too much. Vitali promised Gomez that he too will get the hardest fight of his life!

"I am ready. I am confident," Klitschko said. "I had no injuries in training, thank God, and I am one hundred percent ready. I heard a lot of statements from Gomez's camp recently and all I can say is that they can dream on, they are all dreams.

PacMan Hailed by Sports Illustrated

Sports Illustrated, the widely-read sports magazine, has come up with its latest pound-for-pound rankings, and it was no surprise to find the name of the Filipino icon on top of its short, distinguished list.

Pacquiao takes on British superstar Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand, and a victory will give him a fifth world title in different weight classes, including the flyweight, super-bantam, super-feather and lightweight.

Pacquiao fought in three different weight classes last year and won all battles against Juan Manuel Marquez (130 lbs), David Diaz (135 lbs) and Oscar dela Hoya (147 lbs). He will fight Hatton at 140 lbs.

Marquez is the only asterisk in Pacquiao’s fight profile following a very controversial draw in 2004 and a very close decision last March. A third fight is needed to finally put the issue to rest.

But there’s also Mayweather who seems on his way out of retirement to face either Pacquiao or Marquez if he wants to reclaim his old title — the pound-for-pound king.

Top 5 Pound-for-Pound King Rankings by Sports Illustrated:

1. Manny "the PacMan" Pacquiao

2. Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez
3. Shane Mosley
4. Bernard "Executioner" Hopkins
5. Chad Dawson

To his credit the younger Khan started the fight jabbing well and utilizing his superior hand speed. Khan used his height and reach to his advantage and looked very comfortable in letting his hands go. Khan continuously backed a bloody Barrera to the ropes where he would unload a quick barrage of punches on him.

In round 5 when Barrera's cut on his scalp is being examined for the second time he was ordered to stop the fight. Khan has overpowered the legendary boxer of Mexico.
